band Les Modules Etranges is reformed with the original singer
and we're currently writing new tunes for the next album.
It makes our "Dusk" 2015 album (that was released in May (digital) & in June (full-length CD, 100 copies limited edition) really difficult to talk about, the 11 tracks have been recorded with
6 different singers, male and female, from France, United States and Wales.

Au moment où nous écrivons ces
lignes, le groupe Les Modules Etranges s'est reformé avec sa
chanteuse originelle, et nous composons des titres pour un futur
album.
Tout ceci fait qu'il est difficile de parler de notre album "Dusk", sorti cette année (sortie digitale
en Mai dernier, et le cd en juin, en édition limitée à 100 exemplaires), les 11 morceaux ayant été enregistrés avec 6 chanteurs-euses différent(e)s, en France, au Pays de Galles et aux USA.
First of all it must have been disturbing for most of our followers to listen to a LME album without our original singer's voice, but the time was right to do so, both of the founding members from 2007
were ready to experiment on their own in 2014... and eventually came back to work together because it's probably better that way.
Tout d'abord l'écoute d'un album de LME où ne figure pas la voix de notre chanteuse originelle a dû être une expérience perturbante pour les personnes qui achètent régulièrement nos productions, mais le moment était venu (en 2014) pour chacun des membres fondateurs de 2007 de faire leur chemin séparément... juste le temps de se rendre compte qu'il était finalement plus intéressant de retravailler ensemble.
The current, 2015's line-up is Azia (Voice and keyboards), Jennifer Osiris Aokigahara (guitars), Damien (bass guitar) and Olivier (drums), ready to tour and record new stuff, in both "new" and "traditional" ways of thinking a music that is most commonly called (more or less) "post punk".
La formation actuelle de 2015 comporte Azia (voix et claviers), Jennifer Osiris Aokigahara (guitares), Damien (basse) and Olivier (batterie), et ils sont prêts à faire des concerts et enregistrer de nouvelles compos, usant d'anciennes et de nouvelles méthodes pour concevoir une musique appelée communément "post punk".
But what about "Dusk", then ? After a final gig in Germany (well, it was supposed to be at the time) in late 2013, LME disbanded with Jennifer O.A being the only "official" member left, with only two tracks to work with "she goes" and "blind mirrors/such a shame" (both written by Azia) and an album name that has been chosen by the singer before she left in November 2013.
It wasn't really comfortable for J. (who's not self confident enough to sing) so he called Thalie Nemesis (also a solo artist) who made an incredible vocal performance on Bitter Moon. The first step was made and the result gave other people enough energy to trust in their own voices and then Banshee Xûan, CountessM, Frozen In Monochrome, Charlize Ann Myers and Nix Crow gave their voices part for the new LME album.

Après ce-qui-était-supposé-être-le-dernier-concert-du-groupe, fin 2013, LME a splitté en laissant Jennifer O.A seul maître à bord, avec seulement deux titres "she goes" et "blind mirrors/such a shame" (deux titres composés par Azia) et un nom d'album faisant référence à leur premier opus de 2009, "Dawn".
Cette situation, délicate pour le guitariste (qui ne se sent pas de chanter), le poussa à faire appel à Thalie Nemesis (qui a son propre projet solo) qui déclencha une étincelle créative en enregistrant la voix du titre "Bitter Moon", et qui donna une forte impulsion au projet. Ainsi, Banshee Xûan, CountessM, Frozen In Monochrome, Charlize Ann Myers et Nix Crow se sentirent en confiance pour compéter le line-up de vocalistes.
A big help was given by Alex from Internal Autonomy for the mixing and the mastering, who made his best to give the whole thing a professional sound (depending on the sound quality of the tracks we gave him).
Un énorme coup de pouce a été donné par Alex du groupe Internal Autonomy au mixage et au mastering, qui a fait de son mieux pour donner un son correct à l'ensemble (tout en étant tributaire de la qualité sonore des enregistrements).
At the beginning of "Human" you can hear (old school) industrial synths, an "ambient industrial" remix of the track is available on soundcloud.
"More Than Words" has that Closer-esque mood, it was due to J. issues to be seen as "legit" as a one-man band, and lyrics by Steven (FIM) are more than accurate, for some reasons.
"Blind Mirrors" aka "Such A Shame", was written (just like "She Goes") and performed live by the previous LME line-up in 2013. The "Dusk" rendition have seen "dramatic changes" (the Banshee Xûan's lyrics and performance are really different from Azia's ones, and the musical arrangement, more somewhat "Electro-Deathrock-ish").
On peut entendre des synthés indus 'old school' dans les premières secondes de "Human", il existe même un remix 'ambient-industriel' sur soundcloud.
"More Than Words" a cette ambiance à la Closer, ce qui est dû au fait que J. avait des difficultés a paraître "légitime" dans sa position de One Man Band et les paroles de Steven (FIM) font fidèlement écho à ce sentiment, de manière curieusement appropriée.
So, it has to be said that they'll probably be no other LP from LME sounding like this ever again.
Everything (apart from Azia's tracks which were written on hardware gears) was pretty much a bedroom recorded and written stuff, almost every instrument (but Free Mind's guitars, courtesy of Charlize) was recorded home from the voice-and-electronics demos. The vocal performers actually had no idea of how the final result gonna sound like because they recorded their vocal parts over the programmed drums loops and synths demos only because it was the only thing that was recorded already. So it gives that album a really "modern electronic" mood, just like Grimes or Austra maybe.
"Dusk" could have been a real dream-synth-pop album, but we added goth guitars and bass and voices instead, so both goths and synth-pop fans will hate it, but we don't give a shit. Because that's the way we are.
Il est important de souligner qu'il n'y aura probablement pas d'autre album de LME sonnant comme celui-ci à l'avenir. Tout, excepté les deux titres composés par Azia qui ont été composés sur des machines hardware, est plutôt une affaire de composition à-la-maison ainsi que l'enregistrement des instruments (sauf les guitares de Free Mind, faites par Charlize) à partir des démos de voix et programmations.
Les vocalistes n'avaient en fait aucune idée du résultat final car les instruments ont été enregistrés après coup.
Cela donne un feeling moderne et électronique à cet album, à l'image de Grimes, ou Austra.
"Dusk" aurait pu être un vrai album de synth-pop, mais nous avons préféré ajouter des guitares, des basses et des voix goth par esprit de contradiction, peut-être que les fans de goth et les fans de synth pop ne l'aimeront pas, mais on s'en fout. Parce qu'on est comme ça un point c'est tout."
